About ZSI: The survey has it’s genesis in the establishment of the Zoological Section of the Indian Museum at Calcutta in 1875. The Survey acquired the Zoological collection of more than a century old from the former Museum (1814 -1875) of  Asiatic Society of Bengal and Zoological Section of the Indian Museum in Calcutta. With the increasing interest in the life science and with the advent of countries Five Year Plan, In the expansion program of the survey was initiated. The Survey has established so far 16 Regional and Field Stations and has developed into a major National Institution.

Pay Scale:

  • For Research Associate: Rs.36,000/- P.M. (Consolidated) + H.R.A. as permissible.
  • For Project Fellow: RS. 16000/-  P.M. (Consolidated) + H.R.A. as permissible.

Educational Qualification: Candidate should have Master degree M. Sc. in the  Zoology/Life Sciences/ And equivalent with a minimum of 60 percent aggregate marks from recognized University.

Age Limit:

  • For Project Fellow – 28 years. On the date of the interview.
  • For Research Associate – 40 years on the date of the interview
